Serena Williams Make Her Rap Debut With New Song

It's too bad Serena Williams didn't make her rap debut during that short-lived Common and Drake beef, because the timing would've been delightful. A new rap song has surfaced from the tennis star, which she apparently recorded at B Major Music Group's Florida recording studio last year.According to TMZ, the studio is owned by Williams' good friend, Baltimore Ravens player Bryant McKinnie.I ball hard no tennis racket/ I can't see these haters through my Gucci glasses/ I make hits like batting practice/ They be like Serena is you really rapping," Williams rapped.The tennis star also uses the song to reference her sister Venus Williams while bragging about her skills on the tennis court.I win I really mean it/ Swag out this world you should call me Venus," she boasted. That's my sis, my name is Serena/ On the court I serve them up, no subpoena.

6-Year-Old Boy Walks to His U.S. Marine Father for the First Time

When US Marine Staff Sgt. Jeremy Cooney was deployed to Afghanistan last year, he left behind his wife and children, one of whom was born with cerebral palsy and couldn't walk.

Little did Cooney know that, over the next seven months, his six-year-old son Matthew would learn to walk on his own, ABC News reports.

Cooney's wife Melissa kept her son's progress a secret for the duration of her husband's deployment so that when he finally returned home, he would be welcomed with the gift of a lifetime.The boy’s mother, Melissa Cooney, elaborated upon the incident on WelcomeHomeBlog.com where she stated:“When my husband left on his deployment, our 6-year-old son could not walk on his own. He has cerebral palsy. Doctors originally said that he would never walk or do much of anything. While daddy was away, he learned to walk. For his homecoming, we set it up for Michael to walk to his daddy for the first time ever! We kept the fact that he could walk a secret the whole time his dad was gone!”

American Idol Results And Then There Were Three

The three who remain standing after tonight's American Idol will receive a hero's welcome in their hometowns. The eliminated contestant will just be going home. Bummer.
But hey, there's still the tour, right? And all the guests in theater tonight got a ticket to one of the live shows so we know at least a few people will be there.
David Cook and La Diva Latina herself will perform tonight, and we'll get the only honest criticism we're hearing all season from Jimmy.After a long and winding results show featuring performances by David Cook and J. Lo, who just wanted to dance again, one of American Idol‘s Top 4 contestants is heading home. Well, they’re all heading home for next week’s sobfests (the hometown visits), but one of them will not get a Hero Parade. The singer eliminated tonight… is… coming up, after the break!



Phillip Phillips, who went first in both rounds last night, is going first tonight, too. Jimmy liked that Phillip lost the guitar and added a saxophone on "Have You Ever Seen The Rain." He thought it added to Phillip's repertoire as an artist. For "Volcano," Jimmy said "it all came together" and vowed that had he seen that performance in a different venue, he would've signed Phillip on the spot. Jimmy and I will have to agree to disagree on the first song, but we're in complete agreement on the second. That song sounded like it could've been a Phillip original.
Ryan's a tease. He sends Phillip back to the couches but not with a declaration of his safety.
Hollie Cavanagh's up next. Jimmy thought that "Faithfully" worked for her because she has a tendency for dramatics and that's a dramatic song. However, unlike Randy, Jimmy thinks she's peaking in the wrong direction and I'm trying to figure out how one can "peak" downward. Jimmy admits he didn't push anyone one way or another on their second round song picks and says Hollie didn't have the experience or the understanding to perform "I Can't Make You Love Me" and hit the "opera button" in the chorus and then "crashed and burned." Yep, Jimmy. That about sums it up.
Another tease from Ryan. She's back to the couches but maybe not for long.
David Cook performs his new single "The Last Song I'll Write For You" and it reminds me that he's sorely missed from my radio. I expected him to be a bigger commercial success than he's been post-Idol. Maybe this song will help him out.
Up next is Joshua Ledet. Jimmy hated Joshua's first song choice and his arrangement of Groban's "You Raise Me Up." He's giving the same criticism many of the commenters on yesterday's review did: Joshua's doing the same thing time after time and it's letting him down. However, Jimmy loved "It's A Man's World," calling the performance "captivating." On listening back to his Round Two song, I don't love it as much as I did last night, but for the most part, I still agree with Jimmy, especially with the first song.

Jessica Sanchez, on 'American Idol

Jessica Sanchez and Joshua Ledet waged an epic duel on "American Idol" with what may have been the most memorable back-to-back performances ever on the show.
Ledet channeled James Brown on "It's a Man's World," taking over the stage with vocal power and charisma.
I never heard anything like that in my life!" Steven Tyler said, with Randy Jackson calling it, "one of the greatest performances in the history of any show!"

And then Sanchez closed the show with an emotional, over-the-top version of Jennifer Holliday's "And I'm Telling You. Meanwhile, USA Today, a national American daily newspaper, had Sanchez coming in second after Ledet with a forecast they called as a “pseudoscientific gauge of contestant momentum.”
In a prediction titled “Eyeing the Idol Odds,” USA Today ranked Sanchez second with 46 points after Ledet with 71 points.
Predicting the results on American Idol isn't a science,” USA Today said. “But it's fun to approach it that way. We've come up with a pseudoscientific formula to gauge each finalist's momentum heading into the next round of competition.”
The news site scores the contestants based on these criteria: song choice, performance order, performance quality, “exceptional circumstances,” judges’ verdict, Dial Idol, online buzz, and results show outcome.



Music industry legend and Interscope Records chairman Jimmy Iovine also coached the “Idol” finalists, the AI website said.
According to AI, “the number of fan and media comments about the show on Twitter and other social networking sites, which has skyrocketed this year, running six times higher than last year.”

Whatever Athletic have brought to the Europa League this season – which is a lot – however much the neutral might have wanted another of their displays of relentless attacking, tonight they were well-beaten.

Two first-half goals from the Colombian forward Radamel Falcao won the game, allowing Atlético to spend the final hour or so sitting deep, coiled always for a breakaway. Just as important was the job done by Gabi and Mario Suárez, sitting deep in midfield and protecting the back four, preventing Athletic from ever achieving the fluency of which they are capable.

In the last 20 minutes Athletic began to generate the sort of pressure of which they are capable, but by then it was far too late: the game had begun to slip away from them as early as the seventh minute. President Obama Supports Gay Marriage

President Obama's decision to endorse same-sex marriage staked out a stance that carries uncertain political risks but one he said was rooted in the biblical admonition "to treat others the way you would want to be treated."

Obama's endorsement Wednesday, a milestone for the gay rights movement, was the first from a sitting president and a potentially powerful tail wind for a cause still struggling for electoral approval. It comes as the country remains divided over whether same-sex marriages should have the same recognition and legal standing as traditional ones, and six months before an election expected to be so tight it may hinge on small slices of votes in a handful of key states.I’ve always believed that gay and lesbian Americans should be treated fairly and equally. I was reluctant to use the term marriage because of the very powerful traditions it evokes. And I thought civil union laws that conferred legal rights upon gay and lesbian couples were a solution.

But over the course of several years I’ve talked to friends and family about this. I’ve thought about members of my staff in long-term, committed, same-sex relationships who are raising kids together. Through our efforts to end the “Don’t Ask, Don’t Tell” policy, I’ve gotten to know some of the gay and lesbian troops who are serving our country with honor and distinction.

What I’ve come to realize is that for loving, same-sex couples, the denial of marriage equality means that, in their eyes and the eyes of their children, they are still considered less than full citizens.Of course, there may be drawbacks to such a strong expression of support. While recent polls show that popular support for marriage equality is gaining widespread acceptance, some pivotal swing states remain largely opposed to the concept. And one of them, North Carolina, remains a major target for the president's reelection campaign.

"The question is, is there a risk?" a prominent Democratic Party official who requested anonymity told The Huffington Post after Biden's remarks. "It is not nationwide [polling] we are talking about. We are talking about Virginia, North Carolina and other swing states. And we are talking about, would Karl Rove and his team stoop to using horribly grotesque and hateful tactics ... and would that peel off 10,000 votes?"As of Wednesday, that question was hypothetical. Now, it's a critical component of the 2012 election.

Jermaine Paul Wins 'The Voice' Season 2

After Christina Aguilera cat fights, some stellar and not-so-stellar performances, and many more Purrfect moments, "The Voice" has crowned its Season 2 winner: Jermaine Paul, representing Team Blake.

Team Cee Lo's Juliet Simms came in second; Team Adam's Tony Lucca came in third; and Team Christina's Chris Mann came in fourth.

Season 2 winner Jermaine -- a former back-up singer for Alicia Keys -- was the last man standing in Tuesday's Season 2 finale on NBC, which boasted celebrity performances, plus more songs from the four finalists and other favorite former contestants.The show started off exciting enough, with a fabulously fantastic performance of the Jackson Five's "I Want You Back." I'm slightly biased since it's my second favorite song of all time, but beyond that, the performance was a blast of energy that kicked off the show. It was hands down one of the most fun performances on the show this season, courtesy of Jermaine Paul and an assembled crew of eliminated boys: Jamar Rogers, whom we miss dearly; Pip, whom we also miss dearly; and James Massone, who wore a headband again.

Our first montage of the night was a blooper reel, and it was funny enough, sure. We got to see the coaches giggle and make funny faces and say silly things about each other. But little did we know that the montages would not be so welcome throughout the rest of the evening, multiplying with greater frequency than the Saw movies and offering less and less creative insight into the inner workings of Adam, Blake, Cee Lo and Christina. Did we really need three minutes of Adam and Blake talking about their platonic bromance?

Calif. - People in court Monday gasped, screamed and cried as prosecutors showed video of two police officers beating a mentally ill homeless man who later died from his injuries.The video was shown in court during a hearing to determine whether Fullerton police officers Manuel Ramos and Cpl. Jay Patrick Cicinelli should stand trial in the death of the 37-year-old Thomas, reports CBS Los Angeles.
Ramos was responding to a call of a car break-in and found Thomas walking near the scene of the crime. He began questioning the homeless man and called for back-up.
"Put your hands on your (expletive) knees...put your feet out in front of you," Ramos could be seen telling Thomas in the video.At minute 18, a back-up police car arrives at the scene and at least one more officer joins in. This is when the tasering starts, amid police requests to "stop resisting." After more prolonged tasers, Thomas is wailing and multiple officers are piled on top of him.
At minute 20, Thomas cries out to his father, who isn't there: "Dad! Dad! Dad! Help me, help me Dad!"
The video ends with emergency responders removing Thomas from the scene, who is now unconscious.
The officers involved in the altercation surround him, discussing what had just happened.
"We ran out of options so I got the end of my Taser and I probably ... I just start smashing his face to hell," says Cpl. Jay Cicinelli, according to the transcript provided by prosecutors. "He was on something. Cause the three of us couldn't even control him."
The video shown on Monday seems to confirm what many Fullerton residents have been saying for almost a year now: that police used excessive force to subdue Thomas.

It’s the ever-too-common Player A uses a racial slur on Player B and Player B goes after Player A’s junk. Didier Zokora claimed that Emre Belozoglu used a racial slur when the two players’ Turkish clubs met in April. Belozoglu was suspended for two games for the incident. Zokora got his revenge Sunday when he came together with Belozoglu. I think the old saying goes something like “kicks with cleats will hurt my junk, but slurs will never hurt me.While Emre did admit to trash talk, he was adamant in his denial of any racial context. Nevertheless, he was slapped by the Turkish Football Federation with a ban of two matches. According to the BBC, the suspension could have been longer if the allegations had been proven conclusively.

Given his foul on Sunday, the two-match ban may not have satisfied Zokora. According to the Daily Mail, he refused to shake Emre's hand before the game. The video above shows that avoiding the handshake was a far gentler gesture than what transpired once the game began. Despite the vicious nature of the kick, Zokora received only a yellow card.

Brad Richards Goal Forces OT, Marc Staal Nets NY Winner

NEW YORK — Marc Staal scored a power-play goal 1:35 into overtime after Brad Richards tied it in the dying seconds of regulation to lift the New York Rangers to a stunning 3-2 victory over the Washington Capitals in Game 5 of the Eastern Conference semifinals Monday night.
With goalie Henrik Lundqvist pulled for an extra attacker, Washington's Joel Ward took a four-minute penalty for high-sticking Carl Hagelin with 21.3 seconds left in the third period. Richards tied it on the first half of the power play with just 7.6 seconds to go, and Staal won it with a drive that appeared to deflect off a Washington player before beating goalie Braden Holtby.Rangers defenseman Anton Stralman scored the only goal of the first period, skating the puck from the right point down the boards before shooting between the five-holes of Caps defenseman Dennis Wideman and goaltender Braden Holtby for the 1-0 lead with 9:16 remaining. It marked Stralman’s third goal of the playoffs and his first on even-strength.



Derek Stepan jumpstarted the play by turning over Caps winger Marcus Johansson with a tough check in the defensive zone, then later in the shift passed back to the point in the offensive zone to Marc Staal, who fed Stralman for the primary assist.

TOKYO -- A tornado tore through a city northeast of Japan's capital on Sunday, killing one person, injuring dozens of others and destroying scores of houses.

Firefighters and medical teams rushed to the area after the tornado struck Tsukuba city, 60 kilometers (40 miles) from Tokyo. The city is a science center, with dozens of research and academic institutes, but the tornado appeared to mostly hit residential areas.A 14-year-old boy died after being injured by the storm, Tsukuba Medical Center said. It said about 200 homes were damaged. Tokyo Electric Power Co. said 24,000 homes were without electricity as lightning added to the storm's damage. Tornadoes are relatively rare in the Tokyo area.

I'll Have Another Wins 2012 Kentucky Derby At Churchill Downs

LOUISVILLE, Ky. — I'll Have Another caught Bodemeister down the stretch and pulled away in the final furlong on Saturday to win the Kentucky Derby.
Jockey Mario Gutierrez, riding in his first Derby, guided the 3-year-old colt ahead of Bob Baffert's Bodemeister and a late closing Dullahan to win on a fast track.
It was trainer Doug O'Neill's first Derby victory. He had never finished better than 13th in the Derby with two other horses.
I'll Have Another, the Santa Anita Derby winner, went off at 15-1 in one the deepest and evenly balanced fields in recent years to win by 1 1/2 lengths.
The chestnut colt, owned by J. Paul Reddam, finished the 11/4-mile race in 2:01.83 in front of a Derby-record crowd of 165,307.The Run for the Roses now complete, speculation can turn to the other two legs of the Triple Crown. I'll Have Another will now attempt to win one of the most elusive championships in sports. I'll Have Another will go for wins in the Preakness and Belmont Stakes in an attempt to become the first horse to take all three wins since Affirmed took the Triple Crown back in 1978.

Joakim Noah injured

Chicago Bulls center Joakim Noah turned his left ankle during the third quarter of Game 3 of the Eastern Conference quarterfinals against the Philadelphia 76ers on Friday night.
After Chicago's 79-74 loss, Noah was seen on crutches with a black aircast on his left ankle. He did not speak to reporters after the game.
Bulls coach Tom Thibodeau was unsure of Noah's status for Sunday's Game 4, saying the team would have a better idea of where its starting center stood on Saturday.
Thibodeau wasn't letting his team use Noah's injury as an excuse.
"The thing is, injury is part of the game," Thibodeau said. "You have to have a mental toughness to get past all of that. We've had injuries all year and you just deal with it. If you look, you can find something every night, every game. Shorthanded, regular season, back to back, early start, whatever it is, or you can find a way to win. That's what you need. You need guys that have great will to win, and no matter what the circumstances are will find a way to win."Philadelphia fans, not always known for their stadium/arena decorum, cheered Noah's injury.
Very unfortunate reaction from the fans," ESPN announcer Mike Tirico said.
Some fans booed Noah as he walked to the bench. To be fair, some fans clapped, seeing Noah was able to walk to the bench on his own.
A great deal of respect to the Philadelphia fans who do stand up and acknowledge the injured player," Tirico said.
When fans watched the replay on the arena video board, there was an audible gasp from the crowd. It was a nasty turn of the ankle.



From that point on, the Sixers out-scored the Bulls 23-5, inexplicably led by an offensive explosion from Spencer Hawes – who finished with a game-high 21 points and 9 rebounds.

This week the American Idol Top 5 are taking on British songs and music from the sixties. Our Top 5 will take the stage and sing 2 songs.

Randy gives a shout-out to Robin Gibb and says that performance was what it was all about and that Joshua’s one of the best singers ever on the show. “It’s been years since we’ve seen somebody like this,” J-Lo says, calling Joshua one of the best singers of the past 50 years. Steven: loves it and agrees with the other judges
On “American Idol” tonight, it’s British night, so the top six will be paying homage Brit Pop and the sixties. On last week’s show, we said goodbye to another fan favorite Elise Testone as she was eliminated from the singing competition.
